Dr. Ali Nasser, DC

Chiropractor at Palo Alto Spine and Functional Health, with a career built around complex injuries and integrated care.

Education and credentials

Dr. Nasser earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), where he was awarded the Eva Bartlett Estate Scholarship in recognition of his academic excellence and potential.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Biopsychology from a Canadian university, where he achieved Dean's List honors.

He holds the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) Physiotherapy certification, an elective specialty credential in the therapeutic procedures used in chiropractic and rehabilitative care. The examination covers evidence-based use of passive modalities, such as electrotherapy, cryotherapy, thermotherapy and light or laser therapy, and active interventions, including therapeutic exercise, functional assessment, rehabilitation techniques and soft-tissue manual methods.*

He has also completed certification in acupuncture in Toronto, which he uses for pain management.

Complex injury rehabilitation

Dr. Nasser has extensive experience directing physical therapy and multidisciplinary clinics dedicated to rehabilitating challenging and complex physical injuries.

His practice focuses on comprehensive, integrative care for patients recovering from complex sports injuries or injuries from motor vehicle accidents. In some cases these musculoskeletal injuries involve a concurrent traumatic brain injury (TBI).

He has led collaborative teams delivering coordinated treatment aimed at functional recovery, chronic pain management and long-term wellness for patients with high-complexity cases.

Integrated care

Early in his career, Dr. Nasser completed an internship at St. Michael's Hospital (Wellesley Central Site) in Toronto, where he focused on comprehensive care for people living with HIV/AIDS.

He went on to pioneer a joint MD/DC practice model in Vancouver, bringing medical and chiropractic care together around the patient. That collaborative work earned commendation from medical doctors.

Community service

Dr. Nasser founded and operated the DERA Clinic in Vancouver, providing chiropractic and health services to economically disadvantaged and underserved people.

He has also volunteered in Latin American clinics where no patient care was previously available.

Today

Dr. Nasser is passionate about helping patients with high-complexity cases, drawing on this background to offer integrative, evidence-informed care for both acute and chronic problems.
